Far Cry 5 – Outpost – Elk Jaw Lodge
Overview
Nestled on the north west coast of Silver Lake, lies Elk Jaw Lodge. Once a popular tourist destination for hunters and outdoors types, the Cult captured and repurposed it for weaponizing bliss. The location contains many opportunities for stealth but also great for run and gun approaches.
I picked up this Outpost after its initial layout pass and the building structure mostly completed. I had the opportunity to tweak the exterior layout and terrain in coordination with the Level Artist assigned to it. This layout proved challenging to comprise the enemies in a way that didn’t make the space feel empty and that combat would feel grounded.
The gameplay theme I went with for this location was Sniping and Quick movements. The building has many entrances to allow the player as well with the AI to quickly jump from one side to the other. While also creating time and space for the player to run away without being overwhelmed.
