Clutch Nixon

Clutch Nixon came to be through the re-imagining of a blend between Evil Kenevil, Dangerous Dave and a big dose of ‘MERICA. It’s insane yet humourous charm created an unique atmosphere to litter the world of FarCry 5 with stunts and challenges.

I had the opportunity to prototype early variations on what would eventually be passed over to a technical designer. We worked together in creating what was required to produce the final product. This was growth experience as it had to come together with many disciplines having their hands on the production. Being a part of that showed me the communication skills required to work between departments; what failed and what succeeded.

Mooseknuckle Run

Aptly named for the moose you might come across during the race, I was able to create a track with a lot of control in the Open World. Since the roads in the area were fairly off the main arterial network, I crafted what would become the ideal experience for the ATV.

In the downhill section, I was able to form the terrain to best suit the landing and air control of the quad. This allowed me to build in safety slopes and bends to funnel the player safely, without making it too unrealistic.

After downhill, I force the player around the Lumber Mill Outpost. If the player hadn’t previously liberated it, they will be welcomed with potential gunfire. This created added tension but rewarded the players who had completed it.

On the uphill climb, I scripted some fancy wildlife to come into your path. These moose would randomly scatter, creating a moment of panic if the player comes too close.

Altogether, the race is challenging, different through each phase, but not overbearingly difficult. I left some of it to chance, with what Ubisoft calls the “Anecdote Factory”.
